The tragic turn of events occurred when Hood allegedly ordered her son to open fire on a 32-year-old man, Jeremy Brown, who had physically assaulted her.

The Incident at the West Pullman Restaurant

Carlishia Hood and her teenage son visited the Maxwell Street Express restaurant located in the 11600 block of South Halsted Street on a Sunday night around 11 p.m.

 

While Hood entered the restaurant, her son remained in the vehicle.

Inside, Hood engaged in a heated verbal argument with Jeremy Brown, a man she had no prior acquaintance with.

The argument between Hood and Brown quickly escalated into a physical altercation when Brown violently attacked and repeatedly punched Hood in the head.

Assistant State’s Attorney Anne McCord Rodgers revealed that Brown struck Hood at least three times, subjecting her to a brutal assault
